I’m a sound designer and musician from Finland with a background in music education.

My approach to sound and music is to get people immersed in the story and believe the illusion – or reality if that is the aim. I believe in quality, communication and crazy ideas.

Currently I’m focusing on sound design and sonic aesthetics of VR and AR, but I’m always happy when getting involved in more traditional projects, too.

In August 2017 I started at Aalto University Sound in New Media master’s programme to learn more about interactive sound design, connect with inspiring people and experiment with new ideas and technologies.

I have graduated from Sibelius Academy with M.Mus. in 2008. Since then I have taught music and sound engineering in Kallio Upper Secondary School of Performing Arts. Kallio has a special task for art education, and it receives students from all over the country. You’ll find some of the learning material for sound studies I’ve made (in Finnish) on my other site aaltomuoto.wordpress.com/aani.

I play keyboards and sometimes cello and theremin in several bands and projects.

During 2014–2015 I spent a year in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a colleague of mine to set up a radio skills training programme at Westbury Youth Centre. When we headed back to Finland we handed the programme over to the locals, and it has since evolved into a media production company and trainging programme facilitated by two of our ex-students.
